Switzerland - Basis tunnel - Sedrun stretch on the Gotthard railway line
Building of two tunnels each approx. 6.3 km and of the caverns of the multifunctional area of the Gotthard base tunnel. Access to the underground sites only through two vertical wells 840m deep and 7 and 9m in diameter, respectively. Simultaneous excavating both southwards and northwards starting from the cavern at the foot of the well. Excavation carried out by means of blasting and mechanical means Excavation sections ranging from 60-134m² (up to 220m² in the caverns). Geology good in parts and very forceful in others. Installation of rock bolts, direct tunnel support, spritz beton (shotcrete) and sliding ribs as support measures after excavation. Application of the final lining of the surface and the vault in concrete. |
