Work on the Cravasco and Castagnola Lots of the Terzo Valico dei Giovi continues with excellent production results
A total of as many as 346.8 meters were excavated in May and June, divided among 6 active fronts, 2 on the Cravasco Lot and 4 on the Castagnola Lot.
The progress of work in the sections in the Giovi Tunnel Consortium’s care has been going on for some time now in a rock mass characterized by an important state of tectonic overstress. In spite of some geo-structural problems and the presence of asbestos on the Cravasco Lot and gas on the Castagnola Lot – which require the use of specific PPE and DPC and the adoption of specific operating procedures according to the respective risk class – the progress of excavation is proceeding, albeit with some complexity.
For CTG, it is a great honor to participate in the realization of this strategic HS/HC project, which is fundamental for the full operation of the Genoa to Rotterdam section and will ensure the connection of the Ligurian port system with the main railway lines in Northern Italy and with the rest of Europe.
