Work continues successfully on the Naples-Bari HS/HC line

Work on the Napoli-Bari AV/AC highway continues successfully: thanks to the efforts of Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A., a leading company in large infrastructure works, the mechanized excavation of the Orsara tunnel, in the province of Foggia, continues to advance.

The Marina TBM, which started a few months ago from the Bovino (FG) entrance, has already excavated several hundred meters of the even track, significantly advancing the construction of a 9,871-meter-long tunnel, a key infrastructure of the future Naples-Bari High Speed/High Capacity railway line. Marina consists of a rotating head with a diameter of 9.92 meters, propelled by 11 motors and will work 24 hours, seven days a week, with a workforce of about 100 highly specialized people.

The Orsara tunnel represents a crucial infrastructure for improving connections in southern Italy and faces considerable technical challenges, thanks to Pizzarotti’s expertise working in a complex geological and geotechnical context.

In parallel, work is underway to assemble the second TBM, which will excavate and construct the lining of the tunnel’s odd-numbered tube.
