Work continues on the Piadena–Mantua double track: launch in Bozzolo and laying of the deck in Marcaria
Piadena-Mantua railway doubling: during the night between Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November, the metal deck of the SP 64 viaduct crossing the SS 10 – Padana Inferiore – road in Bozzolo was launched. The deck consists of steel girders and includes eight additional 30-metre spans with prestressed reinforced concrete beams which, together with the ramps and a roundabout currently under construction, will form the new access road to the municipality of Bozzolo.
The works, commissioned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, were carried out by La Bozzoliana (consisting of Pizzarotti, Saipem, Icm) with Salcef, with Italferr overseeing the works and coordinating safety, and with the contribution of Anas staff.
On the afternoon of Monday 17th, the 55-metre-long, 330-tonne metal deck was installed between piers 3 and 4 of the railway bridge, located along the SP 67 road in Marcaria. This operation, which was carried out using two maxi-cranes that simultaneously lifted the slung beam, was also performed with the utmost precision and punctuality.
By Christmas, two more metal decks will be installed on the overpasses in Ospitaletto and Curtatone. For each of the viaducts, once the steel beams have been laid, the concrete decks will be installed upstream and downstream. The overpasses will then be completed with road safety equipment, guard rails, and horizontal and vertical signage.
