Work continues on the Penitentiary in San Vito al Tagliamento
Work continues on the construction site of the new prison in San Vito al Tagliamento (PN). Recently, Impresa Pizzarotti, the company responsible for designing the adaptation of the structures to the 2018 NTC (Technical Construction Norms) and for carrying out the work, after completing all preliminary activities relating to the demolition of existing buildings and war and environmental remediation, has obtained approval from the Contracting Authority to begin construction of the FDP foundation piles to support the detention wing, the main building of the prison complex in terms of size and height.
This type of pile (Full Displacement Piles) represents a deep foundation technology that does not involve the removal of soil and therefore minimises the production of waste material thanks to a drilling system that compacts the soil. In this first phase of construction, all 355 planned 17-metre-long piles will be built, followed by the foundation slab at varying heights. In the coming days, excavation work will also begin, followed by the construction of the shallow foundations for the Colloqui-matricole-lavorazioni and Block-house buildings, which will proceed in parallel.
