CTG – Castagnola: end of Binario Dispari extension Milan WBS GN15P
Work continues at full speed on the Castagnola Lot by the Giovi Tunnel Consortium (Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A. – COLLINI LAVORI S.p.A.) for the Terzo Valico dei Giovi high-speed/high-capacity railway project, where last week the end of the “Extension” of the Milan Odd Track, WBS GN15P, was reached.
With the Amendment Act of March 8, 2024, between General Contractor (COCIV Consortium) and CTG, the end dates of the tender for the Milan Odd Track were changed from pk 16+285.50 to pk 16+650.00 for a total of 365 ml of tunnel classified as class 2 methane risk and in a context of tectonic complexity along the section known as the Sestri Voltaggio Zone (ZSV).
Of these 365 m, 55% were constructed using heavy tectonic sections with consolidation measures involving up to 175 VTR bars (24 m long), installation of ribs with HEB300 semi-automatic assembly and systematic struts with variable rib spacing from 1.00 to 0.80 m and with final reinforced concrete cladding.
It took 458 days to complete the extension, with excavation work being completed two months ahead of schedule.
Congratulations to the entire team.
