Third Giovi Pass: diaphragm demolitiont

Third Giovi Pass – High-Speed/High-Capacity Project – Genoa–Tortona Line: last week, the cross-cut of the Even Track between the Castagnola and Vallemme construction sites was completed in the Castagnola area of the municipality of Fraconalto (AL), thus finishing the excavation work in the direction of Milan.

This milestone marks a second major achievement, following the breakthrough of the Odd Track on 27 November.

For the Pizzarotti & Collini group (Giovi Tunnel Consortium), this is a source of pride and satisfaction, adding another key step towards the completion of the project, carried out in a context characterised by significant complexities linked both to the geology of the section being tunnelled and to the presence of natural gas.

The Milan Even Track, WBS GN14M/GN14N, is one of the main works of the Castagnola lot: it extends over a length of 1,675 metres, of which approximately 20% has been constructed using tectonic sections, HEB300 ribs with semi-automatic assembly and systematic bracing.
