Terzo Valico dei Giovi: Odd-numbered track diaphragm removal
Terzo Valico dei Giovi, AV/AC Genoa – Tortona Line project: on Thursday, 27 November 2025, the diaphragm of the Odd Track between the Castagnola and Vallemme construction sites was demolished in Castagnola, in the municipality of Fraconalto (AL), marking the completion of the excavation and the meeting of the two work fronts.
This is a moment of pride and satisfaction for the Pizzarotti & Collini group (Consorzio Tunnel Giovi), adding an important piece to the completion of the work in a context marked by significant complexity factors related to the geology of the section crossed and the presence of natural gas.
The Milan Odd Track, WBS GN15N/GN15P, is one of the main works of the Castagnola lot, with a length of 1,835 metres, 30% of which involves the application of tectonic sections with HEB300 semi-automatic assembly ribs and systematic struts.
In line with the strategy of prioritising eco-sustainable modes of transport, the project will enable a significant amount of freight traffic to be transferred from road to rail, representing one of the links in the strategic trans-European transport network, the so-called Rhine-Alps Corridor from Genoa to Rotterdam.
