Technical visit to the construction sites the Circumvesuviana – Doubling Torre Annunziata – Castellammare – Lots 2 and 3

The visit, jointly organized by the Order of Engineers of the Metropolitan City of Naples and L’Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV), was an opportunity to illustrate the interventions related to the modernization and upgrading of the Circumvesuviana and more specifically those related to the Stabia Scavi Station, part of a larger project that includes the doubling of the section between the towns of Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia.

The design of the new station, which is part of the works of the regional metropolitan system, will replace the one in Via Nocera and includes the construction of a new passenger building, consisting of two separate buildings connected by a connecting underpass, and an underground garage built on two levels, capable of accommodating 150 vehicles.

For the completion of the doubling of the section, a new natural tunnel is being built under the Varano hill. This tunnel will be built according to the traditional excavation technique using metal ribs and spritz beton, after consolidation of the excavation face by jet-grouting injections and drilling with micropiles.

The project also includes the consolidation of the slopes of Varano hill, through nailing and wire mesh put in place on the entire hillside, and hydraulic regimentation works for protection against hydrogeological phenomena, of the archaeological site of Villa Arianna.
