Technical visit to the construction site of the Node of Florence

Technical visits to our shipyards continue and are one of the initiatives we support to promote the dissemination of company know-how.

Being able to see up close the complexity behind building an important infrastructure and appreciate the constant commitment of the people involved is a valuable learning opportunity.

Last week a group of colleagues from the Parma office visited the construction site of the Node in Florence. After an introduction by Technical Director Ing. Brunori, the visit began with the presentation of a video on safety and a quick examination of the project by the construction staff.

The group then moved to the areas of the station yard, where the excavation and construction of the underpinning poles were underway. Afterwards, the visit moved to the Campo di Marte site, where the first of the two tunnels excavated in TBM is being built; here the head of the mechanized excavation took the group to the machine, where he illustrated the operation of the same.

Finally, on the way back to the base camp we went to visit the areas of storage ashlar (produced in Lucignano by Pizzarotti Prefabricated) and the plants for the operation of TBM.
