Our sustainability Initiatives
Health and safety at work
BBS project
The BBS (Behavior Based Safety) project was carried out at the construction sites of the Giovi Tunnel Consortium (High Speed Milan-Genoa) starting from February 2022. It involved all the operational staff employed by the Pizzarotti-led Consortium through training courses, field checks, and meetings to share results and plan objectives and feedbacks.
The results are very encouraging: in December 2022, behavioral compliance stood at 93%, continuously growing compared to previous months. Because of the positive start of the process, the safety indexes (expressed in terms of frequency of accidents) improved in the Castagnola construction site while they remained almost unchanged in Cravasco. The BBS project, whose effectiveness has proven to be more significant after 2 years of application based on studies conducted on previous experiences, will continue until the conclusion of operational activities.

Suppliers evaluation
We have started a project to review the supplier evaluation process on Social Responsibility (ESG) issues, which, based on the performances recorded during 2022, will allow a significant improvement in terms of reliability and objectivity of the data. We have invested in Bureau Van Dijk’s Orbis platform to have an external evaluation of our suppliers. Furthermore, for the due diligence activity towards the qualified suppliers with whom we establish commercial relationships, we have chosen to use Bureau Van Dijk’s Catalyst platform. We have also integrated the supplier qualification and evaluation process on ESG with the solutions provided by third parties (EcoVadis and Open-es).
Safety day
Pizzarotti Safety Day: A day to share the commitment of Impresa Pizzarotti & C. s.p.a. for the safety of construction sites and workplaces.
An event of fundamental importance whose primary objective is to promote and incentivize health and safety culture, collaboration among colleagues, attention and prevention, training and information, safety as an ethical right and duty, collaboration and involvement, and shared choice.

Company mobility plan
The company mobility plan includes various objectives, such as training and awareness programs, covered parking areas for bicycles, application of smart working, grants for the purchase of public transport season tickets, company car fleet renewal, in order to encourage more sustainable mobility.
