Students visiting the construction site “La Bozzoliana”

Approximately fifty students from the Department of Engineering and Architecture in Parma, the three-year professional degree program “Construction, Infrastructure and Territory,” and the international Erasmus programs linked to the Emilian university itself visited the Piadena-Mantua railway doubling construction site in recent days, accompanied by Professor Felice Giuliani.

Received by the management of the La Bozzoliana consortium and the young engineers working on the contract, the students –including sixteen foreigners from various countries– were explained, first in Italian and then in English, the various phases of the project and the work currently underway in the construction site. This was followed by a visit to various construction areas, including the railway overpass on the SP 67, where the launch of the metal deck and prestressed reinforced concrete beams recently took place, the nearby railway embankment and the works for the construction of the bridge over the Oglio which, at this stage, focus on the construction of diaphragms and piers.

At the end of the visit, there was no lack of focus on the sustainability of the infrastructure, the new construction techniques and the materials that are used for the doubling works.
