“RFI prepares the start of the yards of the High Speed in the Node of Verona”

The preparatory work for the entrance of the Brescia-Verona High Speed/High Capacity Brescia-Verona railway line began in Verona Porta Nuova.

The press conference, held yesterday, Tuesday, April 23 at the headquarters of Palazzo Barbieri of the City of Verona where the program of activities preliminary to the implementation of the work was illustrated, that include the execution of the reclamation of the areas from the war ordnance, the resolution of the interferences with the public services, the mowing of the vegetation and the predisposition of the logistic areas of yard.

The works of the “AV/AC Junction of Verona: West Entrance” consist in the construction of 3.6 kilometers of new AV/AC line, whose activation is expected by 2028, a new path of about 3.3 kilometers, which will allow the direct interconnection between the Milan-Milan lineVerona and the Brenner line, in the extension of about 4.2 km of the existing railway line.

The project also includes rationalisation and upgrading of the Verona Porta Nuova station, with modification and extension of the existing platforms and underpasses.

These interventions will reduce congestion, improving the circulation and efficiency of regional transport and freight. The total cost is about 441 million euros.

The works, managed by RFI Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Italferr S.p.A., involve the consortium Impresa Pizzarotti & C. s.p.a., Saipem and Salcef Group, with a forecast beginning between October and November.
