The project involves the construction of a new alignment on the new Catanzaro – Crotone site along the State Road no. 106 “Jonica”. The contract is divided into five lots; of these, the grouping with Pizzarotti leader, was awarded Lot 2 (section 2 lot 1): this is the most valuable construction site among the 5 lots and extends between Catanzaro and Uria Junction included, for a total of 7.5 kilometres (out of 43 in total). The stretch is characterized by two lanes in each direction with a type B category section.

Along the main road section there are 4 viaducts (plus one on the secondary axis) characterized by two independent carriageways, one in each direction, of the continuous beam type with mixed structure (steel beams + concrete slab) and three natural double-barrel tunnels – to be excavated with the traditional method – with a length between 520m and 1180m, having an intrados section described by a polycentric radius of 5.95m and a free area of 73m2.

The estimated duration for the entire project is almost 4 years, including 7 months for design, 3 months for the operations for ordnance clearance operations and a monitoring plan before and after the construction of the works.
