The new project involved the detailed design and construction of the double-tracking and speed-up of the Cancello–Frasso Telesino line, running partly alongside the existing line and partly on a new alignment for approximately 6 km. The entire section has a total length of approximately 16 km, including 3 km of viaducts and 4 km of tunnels, with a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

The project also included the construction of two new stations, Valle di Maddaloni and Dugenta–Frasso Telesino, serving the Caserta area and providing a direct connection to Naples, Bari, and Benevento. Travel time between Naples and Bari was reduced by 1 hour and 40 minutes, connecting the two cities in approximately 2 hours.
