PIZZAROTTI SA has been awarded, as a partner of the Consortium “SoGe 01” formed by the companies Ennio Ferrari SA, Mancini & Marti SA, Walo Bertschinger SA and Geodil SA, the preliminary lot for the Genzana underpass of the SBB station of Lugano, in the municipalities of Lugano and Massagno.

The ‘award concerns the first lot – for a work amount of approx. 3.6 million Swiss francs (just under 4 million euros) – of a larger project aimed at the renovation of the important road underpass of the Lugano railway station, of fundamental importance to improve accessibility, safety of the railway area, fluidity and quality of public and private transport, with a total planned investment of approx. 40 million Swiss francs (41 million euros).

The work for Lot 1 will include a series of preliminary works that are essential for the future implementation of the entire project: temporary excavations and supports, the construction of foundations for the installation of four temporary bridges for trains, adaptations of various railway engineering elements, and the installation of gravel retention elements.

The company’s experience and expertise in the construction sector are a highly significant added value for this important infrastructure project.
Work began a few days ago and Pizzarotti SA is ready to take on this new challenge and contribute to the improvement of Lugano’s rail infrastructure network.
