Doubling of the Messina–Catania railway line, Giampilieri–Fiumefreddo section, lot 2 North – Taormina–Giampilieri. The route extends for approximately 28.3 km with double track and includes civil works, armament, electrification, signalling and telecommunications. The main works of art include 2 double-barreled natural tunnels excavated using the traditional method, 6 natural tunnels excavated using the mechanized method (TBM), 7 viaducts, 2 stations and one stop. 

Project awarded, developed and launched by a JV in which Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.a. held a stake together with other industrial partners. On 30 June 2026, Impresa Pizzarotti’s share was transferred to a company within the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, along with all relevant appurtenances (human resources, equity interests, contractual arrangements, technical and experiential requirements, etc.)
