The Cuma water purification plant is among the largest in Europe, with a treatment capacity of 1,200,000 equivalent inhabitants.

Built in the 1980s, it was repurposed and upgraded in 2017.

Since then it has been managed and operated by Pizzarotti in collaboration with Suez.

Some characteristics:

• The average flow rate is approximately 230,000 m³/d. The water line includes 14 biological lines in parallel and 16 clarifiers.
• The system includes a tertiary filtration treatment and disinfection with UV technology.
• The sludge line includes thermal hydrolysis, anaerobic digestion, thermal drying of digested sludge.
