The new Chiesi Research Center was inaugurated in Parma on 3 October 2011, in the presence of the Ministers of Health, Labor and Social Policies, other national and local political authorities, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and the academic world. The architectural project was created with a precise aim: to encourage collaboration between the areas of expertise. The internal spaces promote comparison between cultures and skills and create opportunities for collaboration and dialogue. Particular attention was paid to the design of the natural lighting system: it is known, in fact, that natural light improves the comfort of workers and avoids energy waste. The buildings are equipped with a large surface of external glass walls and an orientation of the facades such as to allow the entry of the greatest amount of light possible, regulated by sunshade devices.
