The new highway provides a direct link between the cities of Brescia, Bergamo and Milan. Overall, the route has a development of about 62.1 km and crosses the Lombard plain, affecting the provinces of Brescia, Bergamo, Milan, Cremona and Lodi.

The project involves five provinces, 43 municipal territories and five parks (Parco Oglio Nord, Parco del Serio, Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, Parco Adda Nord, Parco Adda Sud). It crosses three main rivers (F. Oglio, Serio and Adda) and a particularly important canal (Canale della Muzza).

Much of the motorway (about 43.5 km) is in close proximity to the future railway line AC/ AV Milan-Verona (Treviglio – Brescia section), with which shares many works of art (overpass, subways, galleries) included in the so-called “Integrated Works”.
