The Impresa Pizzarotti and Traversud plants produce all the most commonly used types of sleepers on Italian railway lines, including special ones with under-sleeper pads (USP) and turnout sleepers.

All the products are of the prestressed reinforced concrete (CAP) type, with prestressing ensured through the so-called “thosti system”, considered the most reliable for maintaining prestressing over time in fatigue-stressed products. Since the mid-1990s, the companies have supplied approximately 10 million sleepers that, positioned on Italian railway lines with different load levels, have not been the subject of any dispute. All the products are approved in accordance with the specific technical specifications issued by RFI SPA.
