Safety, innovation, artificial intelligence and new technologies. These were the central themes of the second ‘Safety Day’ organised by Impresa Pizzarotti at the Parma Chamber of Commerce, which was attended by guests including the Mayor of Parma, Michele Guerra, the Councillor for Public Works and Legality, Francesco De Vanna, and the Regional Councillor for Health Policy, Massimo Fabi.

The morning’s proceedings began with a round table discussion entitled “Infrastructure safety and the challenge of digitalisation: opportunities and critical issues”. ‘Safety is an obligation and as such must be respected, but it is also an investment for a company because it changes people’s mindsets and approach to work and allows the worker to be placed at the centre,’ explained CEO Riccardo Garrè during the discussion moderated by Fabio Carducci, head of the Rome editorial office of Il Sole 24 Ore.

‘Safety at work is an absolute priority,’ said President Paolo Pizzarotti. ‘Impresa Pizzarotti has always been very attentive to this issue, with truly remarkable data: we are committed to ensuring that it continues to improve.’

Making an important contribution were leading professionals who made themselves available to turn the round table into an important opportunity for sharing and in-depth discussion: Francesco Gallo, Regional Health and Safety Technical Consultant (CTSS) INAIL, Marco Iuorio, Digital Transition Manager Ance and Secretary General DIHCUBE, Fabio Battelli, Enterprise Security Leader at Deloitte, Niccolò Chierroni, CEO of Mermec Engineering, Legal Advisor Lorenzo Fantini and Giuseppe Chiappinelli from the Department of Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin. Gaetano Settimo, senior researcher at the Higher Institute of Health, contributed directly from New York.

The second part of the morning was filled with real-time links to Pizzarotti construction sites and factories, both in Italy and abroad, to reward workers who have distinguished themselves for their daily commitment, contributing with dedication and passion to ensuring safe and secure working environments.

 The event concluded with the company’s presentation of its 2024 Sustainability Report and the presentation of new advanced collision and impact prevention monitoring systems in use at the Florence, Giovi Tunnel, Lucignano and Pontetaro construction sites. These innovative systems have been developed to minimise risks and optimise worker safety by monitoring the movements of machinery and people on the ground in real time.
