The structure was discovered during excavation work on the construction site in an area on the outskirts of Piadena, at the intersection of the railway and the Dugale canal, by archaeologists from the AR/S Archeosistemi company, which is in charge of the archaeological control of all operations of excavation.

Under the direction of the Superintendency of Cremona, Mantua and Lodi, the plant was cleaned, photographed and surveyed.

The furnace is characterized by a combustion compartment, 3 pre-furnaces and 3 meter long ducts, inside which the fire was lit to bring the heat into the cooking chamber, via the radiation channels.
The plant exploited the clayey soil of that area for the production of bricks, found on site both whole and in fragments. Traces of charcoal and ash were also preserved along the prefurniture and radiation channels.
After the examination and photographic documentation, the Superintendency ordered the complete coverage of the site with geotextile and earth.
The constant archaeological control of the works allows for any discovery to be promptly reported and represents a very important source of information for reconstructing the history of the area.
