Piadena-Mantova railway track-doubling: work is underway on eight railway overpasses, three subways and an artificial tunnel, in addition to the double tracks.

Over three hundred people are at work every day, including workers, drivers and technicians, with the prospect of further growth due to the opening of new work fronts. The Piadena-Mantova railway track-doubling construction site, the most imposing infrastructural work currently underway between the provinces of Mantua and Cremona, the first functional section of the larger project to connect the city of Mantua and Codogno with a double track, is in turmoil.

A strategic work, costing almost 850 million euro, commissioned by Rfi, the Italian railway network, with the works direction of Italferr (both companies of the FS Group) and entrusted to the grouping of companies formed by Pizzarotti, Saipem, Icm and Salcef, which will give a new impulse to the economy and life of a catchment area of about 100 thousand inhabitants.

Work is currently proceeding on the construction of the eight overpasses, three subways and an artificial tunnel that will allow the elimination of all level crossings. In particular, for the railway overpass on provincial road 67 in Marcaria, assembly work on the metal span that crosses the railway has begun in these days.

Activities are also underway for the construction of the railway embankment for the double track between the towns of Bozzolo and Castellucchio.
