Pedemontana Lombarda works update
One year after the start of work on the Pedemontana Lombarda motorway, pending the definition of the variations requested by the authorities crossed by Sections B2 and C, work continues on the construction of the new motorway axis. The start-up phase of the works was essentially completed during the past year.
Among the most significant activities, work began on the base construction sites in Desio and Usmate Velate, and on the crushing plant serving the three concrete mixing plants dedicated to the project.
A total of approximately 600,000 cubic metres of the 17 million cubic metres of inert material planned. Over the course of the months, equipment with clamshell buckets was implemented for the construction of the diaphragm walls of some tunnels on section C. To date, there are 10 on site. Finally, work began on the bridge over the Lambro River and other interfering road works.
The project team, which will be expanded in the coming months with the addition of further resources, is focused on achieving the objectives for the coming years of work, in order to complete an important infrastructure for improving mobility in the Lombardy Region.
