Work is proceeding on almost all fronts on lot 4B of the Palermo-Catania railway line. All tunnel entrances have been completed or are nearing completion: mechanized excavation of the Sicani tunnel is underway with the Atena TBM (approximately 300 ml excavated), and excavation of the parallel line tunnel is set to begin shortly with the Demetra TBM.

Traditional excavation has also begun on the pedestrian exit tunnel of the Dittaino tunnel, and work on the emergency window of the same tunnel is set to begin shortly.

Meanwhile, work is also underway on the construction of a 20 km water pipeline and related ancillary works, which will ensure the water supply to the construction site using water from the Villarosa reservoir, even in the event of water emergencies, such as the one that occurred in the region in 2024.
