Niscemi Military Base: Work Begins

In recent days, work on the landscape engineering project has officially begun at the Niscemi military base, situated within the valuable natural environment of the Sughereta di Niscemi Nature Reserve.

The project aims to stabilise areas damaged by recent flooding and to secure slopes affected by landslides and rockfalls. The planned activities include hydrogeological protection works and environmental restoration measures, with the aim of protecting and enhancing an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The project also involves specialist naturalistic engineering works, including the reshaping of slopes, the construction of stone and wicker structures to ensure proper rainwater management and the mitigation of erosion processes, thereby promoting the recovery and stabilisation of the areas affected by instability.

To complete the project, the lighting and video surveillance (CCTV) systems will be fully refurbished, helping to ensure higher levels of safety and functionality in the area.

This is a particularly significant project, designed to restore stability, safety and resilience to an area that has suffered the effects of extreme weather events in recent months, including significant erosion and hydrogeological instability.

A project that combines engineering expertise, environmental awareness and risk prevention, once again confirming Impresa Pizzarotti’s ability to tackle complex projects in contexts that are sensitive and strategic for the region. The works are scheduled for completion by 31 October.
