New ramps at the Peschiera del Garda interchange of the A4 Brescia-Padova freeway activated in record time

After the January 10, 2025 closure of the interchange, in just 26 days, more than 120 workers took turns on multiple shifts to demolish the existing ramps, construct and connect the new ones, install guard rails, and install the lighting system.

In this same time window, a massive as well as geometrically complex box-shaped structure was completed and the deck of a viaduct built off-site in previous months in its entirety (beams, slab and sidewalk) weighing about 650 tons was launched. Both structures will enable the new railway line to overpass the Peschiera del Garda junction.
The work was carried out by the Cepavdue Consortium, of which Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A. is part of together with Saipem and ICM, as part of the construction of the new HS/HC Brescia East – Verona section, which made it necessary to reconfigure the portion of the Peschiera del Garda freeway junction ramps located south of the freeway route.
This reconfiguration is functional for the plano-altimetric compatibility of the road ramps with the railway route.

The openings to traffic occurred in phases: on January 19, the new inbound branches in the direction of Venice and in the direction of Milan were reopened; on January 26, the new outbound ramp from Venice was activated; and on Wednesday, February 5, the new outbound ramp from Milan was opened to traffic.

The meticulous planning of interventions (and necessary closures/reopenings) together with the tenacity and dedication of workers and technicians made it possible to reduce user inconvenience and impact on the area.
