Construction work and initial preparatory activities for the construction of the foundations of the abutments and the north pier of the bridge continue. Screening at the bottom of the AET reservoir, anchored walls, secant and main piles are currently underway.

The construction site, assigned to Pizzarotti SA in consortium with Mancini & Marti SA (lead contractor) and Ennio Ferrari SA, envisages the construction of a new bridge with a single-cell reinforced concrete deck of approx. 250 m, with a main span of 96 m and a curvilinear layout. The construction is planned to be cantilevered by successive cast-in-place segments (Freivorbau) over the AET basin in Airolo.
