The transfer, which took place during last night from the port of Augusta (SR) to the port of Giardini Naxos (ME) by shallow-draft barge, of the TBM that will excavate the twin bores of the Taormina Tunnel of about 6,200 m in length has been completed.
Transportation to the operational site will be carried out starting tomorrow during night hours using special trolleys, which will include the closure of the existing road system and a ban on parking along the affected arterial roads. The one in Taormina is the second of four TBMs that will arrive on the Messina-Catania section lots. The remaining two will arrive in the coming months.
