Proud to be part of a project that will reduce CO2 emissions in the sustainable mobility sector, Impresa Pizzarotti, in consortium, continues to grow in Romania by winning a new railway contract. The subject of the contract, commissioned by the national railway company CFR and financed by the local PNRR, involves the construction of Section 4 of the line that will connect Cluj-Napoca to Episcopia Bihor, on the border with Hungary, and is part of the broader project for the modernization, electrification and rehabilitation of over 166km of the Cluj Napoca-Oradea-Episcopia Bihor-Frontiera railway line.
Among the main objectives, guaranteeing the technical conditions for circulation at a speed of 160 km/h for passengers and 120 km/h for freight trains, increasing the level of comfort and safety of railway traffic and allowing savings in transport of goods and travel times between connected cities, with benefits also in terms of lower CO2 emissions. The interventions, thanks to the use of new electronic centralization systems in the stations and the introduction of the ERTMS safety system (ETCS level 2 + GSM-R), will promote interconnection with the European railway network and the reduction of management costs and maintenance of the existing line.
