Impresa Pizzarotti and the ITS “Steve Jobs Academy” together with the I.I.S.S. “S. Mottura” Secondary School are looking to the future by investing in young people, quality, and safety.

The union and collaboration between these entities has made it possible to launch the “TBM-Tunnel Boring Machine Mechatronics Technician” course, a post-diploma program aimed at training expert technicians in the field of TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) operation and maintenance, which was inaugurated yesterday in Caltanissetta.

The opportunity for this experiment stems from the implementation of seven railway projects in Sicily covering 200 kilometers of network, with 175 km of tunnels and 19 TBMs, futuristic and hyper-technological machines for digging underground tunnels. This represents a significant technological leap forward that requires new skills and a new approach to technical training.

In the coming years, approximately 7,000 new jobs will be needed in Sicily to carry out these major projects, particularly on the Palermo-Catania-Messina route, creating development and skilled employment at the same time.
