At the Bovino construction site, where work continues successfully on the Naples-Bari HS/HC, the Precast Area dedicated to the prefabrication of concrete segments has become fully operational, marking another important milestone for Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A.

Thanks to an integrated concrete batching and storage plant, optimized for logistics and production, two segments for tunnel lining are made every seven minutes. This makes it possible to reach an extraordinary production volume: one million cubic meters of ashlars to serve the six TBMs used in the construction of the Orsara tunnel and the Hirpinia tunnel (the latter, with its 27 km, will be the longest tunnel in Italy on a par with the Valico tunnel on the Genoa-Tortona).

The decision to produce the ashlars directly “in house” is a strength of the project: this approach significantly reduces environmental impact, limiting CO₂ emissions, heavy traffic on local roads, and noise pollution. Once again Pizzarotti stands out for its integration of technological innovation, sustainability and efficient resource management. A key feature of the plant, robotics in action. The 4 operating robots, perform 4 different types of functions, simultaneous unscrewing and brushing, screwing and disarming spraying. The whole robotic cycle aims to improve all wearing and dangerous activities by going to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of work.
