High Speed/High Capacity Napoli-Bari, Orsara-Bovino section.

The cutting head of the TBM that will dig the tunnel, is being assembled, waiting for it to be ready for the excavation, the thrust and its operation.

The Orsara-Bovino project is the final section of the itinerary, part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor. The track will run almost entirely through tunnels with a speed range of 200 to 250 km/h and has a total length of 11.8 kilometers.

The tunnel, named Orsara, will have a total length of about 9,871 meters: a large part of its construction will be due to the advancement of the TBM, a tunnel boring machine more than nine meters in diameter that allows the mechanized excavation of the tunnel and its lining.
