With the completion of the Superba elevated road and of the Ponte del Papa (Pope’s Bridge) upper road, the new road layout of the Port of Genoa is taking shape. Through six major infrastructural works, along the entire Sampierdarena basin, it will connect the port terminals to the motorway axes of the Genoa node, conveying heavy traffic directly to the port, without interfering with the city road system, and at the same time making road freight transport faster and more efficient.

In detail, Opera A – Port elevated causeway extension and ancillary works: part of the newly built elevated causeway (the entire right bank of the Polcevera river including the upper street of the Ponte del Papa bridge and 50% of the left bank of the Polcevera river) will be handed over to the Contracting Authority on 15 May. It should be opened to traffic in about 1 to 2 months.

Opera E, Strada “La Superba”: officially completed, it will be handed over to the Contracting Authority in May. The opening to traffic is expected by May.

Opera C, Viaduct MSC: the sub-foundations have been completed and the elevation works have started, the laying of the metal decks will begin shortly.
