From the classroom to the construction site: field training at Pompei with the Building Engineering Laboratory

We welcomed students from the Master’s Degree in Building Engineering for Sustainability at the University of Naples Federico II to the Pompeii construction site. Accompanied by Professors Roberto Castelluccio and Antonio De Luca and DL Eng. Marcello Orilia, the students were able to observe the construction site activities and the engineering solutions adopted up close.

The heart of the visit was the technical exploration in the underground garage. Here, the perfect synergy emerged between the impressive structural works carried out by Impresa Pizzarotti and the systems managed by Infrafer (a company owned by LDB and SEM). A concrete example of integration between skills, Project Management and complex engineering.

After a focus on the future Santuario underpass and a visit to Piazza Bartolo Longo, completed by Infrafer, the day concluded with a moment of high cultural value: welcomed by Archbishop Tommaso Caputo, the students were able to visit the Mantegna on display in the new art gallery.

Technique, collaboration, and field training are key elements in transforming the construction site experience into a concrete opportunity for growth and discussion.
