Today, the two TBMs Iris and Marika entered the Belfiore station in Florence, as part of a larger project to renovate the Florence railway hub and build the High Speed/High Capacity bypass.
The event was attended by Minister and Vice Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani Giani, Mayor of Florence Sara Funaro, CEO of RFI Rete Ferroviaria Italiana Aldo Isi, CEO of FS Engineering Dario Lo Bosco, by Infrarail CEO Paola Firmi, and authorities and managers from all involved in the project.
The important event was attended by the General Manager of Italy of Impresa Pizzarotti & C. SpA Francesco Aguglia and the Director of the Florentia Consortium Gianfilippo Brunori.
Impresa Pizzarotti, group leader of the Florentia Consortium (partnered by Saipem), has ensured the construction of the two tunnels of the passante starting from Campo di Marte, up to the Belfiore Station, over approximately 3.5 years, crossing one of the most delicate and precious urban fabrics in the entire national territory, with very low excavation covers and completing the work in complete safety with minimal disturbances in the area, also thanks to a construction site approach particularly attentive to environmental sustainability, with the transport of the main building materials and excavation materials through the privileged use of railway vehicles.
