CTF – AV Naples/Bari: BP Activation and Interconnections
On Saturday 27 September, Impresa Pizzarotti (parent company of the CFT Consortium, jointly owned by Itinera and Ghella) activated the first track of the first section of the new Naples-Bari High Speed/High Capacity line, covering a distance of approximately 19.3 km.
The connection works to the existing lines at Cancello, Caserta and Dugenta have been successfully completed, as have the relevant traffic tests for the new high-speed/high-capacity line, which will definitively replace the historic Caserta-Foggia line, radically changing rail traffic in southern Italy and facilitating intermodality. The activation of the second track, which partly overlaps the track previously in operation on the Caserta-Foggia line, is scheduled for early 2026.
The first commercial train crossed the new section at around 4 p.m.
During the contract, numerous difficulties arose, mainly related to archaeological finds, delays in resolving interference with public services and expropriation issues. These were overcome without ever interrupting activities, through perseverance and expertise in finding the best technical solutions to anticipate the work as much as possible and achieve the common goal of providing the community with new infrastructure.
These unique features, built with daily commitment and representative of Impresa Pizzarotti’s DNA, consolidate our company’s role and reliability in the Italian construction landscape, with particular reference to the construction of infrastructure.
Congratulations to all those who made it possible to achieve this important goal.
