Building an Olympic bobsleigh, skeleton and luge track in just 300 days is a real challenge. But thanks to strategic planning and effective construction management, the “miracle” has become reality!

The Cortina 2026 construction site was not just an engineering project, but a true test of resistance. Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, in a delicate environmental context, our teams had to face numerous difficulties.

The site’s road system was one of the biggest challenges: impassable roads, dangerous curves and blind spots required constant management to guarantee access for the construction vehicles. Every change was studied in real time so as not to compromise the flow of the work in safety, managing to maintain continuity without a hitch.

There was also no shortage of interference: from the public road system to the cable car above, via Lake Bandion and the historic Cabina S, to the need to preserve part of the old “Eugenio Monti” slope. Not least, the extreme weather conditions did not help. Cortina, with its cold temperatures, snow and ice, was certainly not an easy ally. But with an effective snow plan, temporary covers and heat pumps, we managed to guarantee a safe and comfortable working environment for the workers.

All this was possible thanks to the impeccable teamwork of the Pizzarotti, ITS and SIMICO teams, constant monitoring, and the optimisation of time and resources. In 300 days, we managed to create a track that will be ready to welcome the world’s greatest athletes.
