Cortina, switching on the bobsled track’s refrigeration plant
Today, in the presence of the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Sen. Alessandro Morelli, the Head of the Technical Mission Structure of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Elisabetta Pellegrini, and the Government Commissioner and Managing Director of Simico, Arch. Fabio Massimo Saldini, as well as Francesco Aguglia and Claudio Tenna, respectively General Manager Italy and Project Director of Impresa Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A., took place, in the presence of journalists from various newspapers, the ignition of the refrigeration plant of the Cortina bobsled run.
The power plant, with a total capacity of 4 MW, built in record time, with the completion of the building taking place only in mid-November, will power the cooling of the track using environmentally friendly glycol (the first bobsled track in the world to use this system). The ice sheet formation process will begin as early as the first decade of March.
