“Because a promise is a promise” – Cortina Sliding Centre

“Because a promise is a promise” and Pizzarotti has kept his promise.

The realisation of the Cortina Sliding Centre represented a huge responsibility for everyone, not only because from the beginning we were among the few who believed deeply in this project, which is now internationally recognised, but above all towards the whole of Italy.

The Cortina track was rebuilt in just 300 days and it is beautiful.

It was an extraordinary job, at the limits of the impossible, but we believed in it and we did it.

Three of the greatest satisfactions were the excited and satisfied looks of the athletes of the Italian national team who tested the track and their “thank you” for making it. Emotion, satisfaction and energy that we also found in the faces of all those people who day and night put commitment and dedication into this project: 21 different nationalities united by one great goal.

In our 115-year history, we had never worked on such a project, but we have encountered many challenging projects on our way.

This was a real “total challange”. We put in expertise, quality, technological and engineering innovation and we did it, we kept our promise for ourselves and for the entire country system.

Now Italy has its track again and the future of the “Eugenio Monti” Sliding Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo is well underway, with the track set to become a fixed part of the planning of the IBSF calendar after the Games, reflected in a multi-year plan for IBSF events and training camps on this track.

Thanks to the whole team that worked on this project and to Società Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026 S.p.A. and ITS Engineering for believing in it with us.
